Transmediale

31 januari 2012 i visited the opening of the digital art and media festival Transmediale. The opening had it’s inspiring and it’s dull moments. Let’s try to focus on the things i liked about the opening. The opening started with a speech of Kristoffer Gansing the artistic director of the festival.

at one moment his powerpoint gut stuck. A technician need to help him. Off course this is embarrassing on a technical media festival. But what happend after that was really great. The technician was actually the artist jon.satrom who made the technical hick-up into a live sound and visual spectacle using only sounds and visuals of errors from the macbook.

i also really liked the installation of Ben Woodeson. He invited the audience to touch anelectric fence. You know that you are going to get a shock but you still want to feel it. a nice balans between fear and curiosity. The fact that you have to sign a claim-release first makes it even better

another item i really liked was an ongoing presentation of people getting angry at their PC.
unfortunately i forgot the artist who put the movies together.
